Recipe Science

Cooks Know How: Making a cake mix quickly sometimes requires a little bit of chemical to boost the cake and make it rise.  In this case the quick mix is the margarine, sugar and eggs and they form the wet sloppy mixture.  The dry ingredient, the flour is added at the end alongside the warm melted chocolate so some added raising agent from a teaspoon of baking powder will help keep the cakes light.  The melted chocolate could make the cake a bit dense and close textured.  Learning about helping a cake mixture to work is a sure way to help understanding all the differing ways of making cakes.
